Company Overview

The UCI Department of Education works in collaboration with K-12 schools that are some of the most socially, culturally, and linguistically diverse in the country and encourages scholarship that seeks to understand teaching, learning, and schooling in this context. The Department currently offers the following academic programs: an undergraduate Minor in Educational Studies, Single Subject (secondary) and Multiple Subject (primary) Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Credential programs, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration and Leadership with specializations in K-12 Instructional Leadership, Higher Education and Community College Leadership, Pre/K-12 Urban Educational Leadership, and Educational Technology Leadership. The Department also offers a Ph.D. Program in Education with specializations in Learning, Development, and Assessment; Educational Policy and Social Context; and Language, Literacy, and Technology.

The Department sponsors the nationally recognized UCI Writing Project and Center for Learning through the Arts and is a partner in a $14.2 million NSF Math-Science Partnership grant designed to increase the quality, quantity, and diversity of math and science teachers in low-performing schools. Other grants focus on early childhood development and education and on after-school programs and activities.

Company History

The University of California, Irvine is the fourth largest campus in the University of California system. Founded in 1965, UCI currently has 24,500 students and 1300 tenure-track faculty. The campus will continue to grow rapidly to accommodate increasing numbers of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, and the Department is expected to grow proportionately.
