UNC Greensboro is a doctoral research-intensive university with approximately 18,500 students and celebrates a diverse academic community. Greensboro is a medium-sized, diverse city in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina and is in an excellent location between the coast and the mountains.
The HDFS Department has 24 full-time faculty, 400 undergraduate majors (50 online majors), and 50 graduate students in MEd, MS, and PhD programs. Programs of study are multidisciplinary and focused on the development of individuals and families in real-world social and educational settings. Racial/ethnic diversity and cross-cultural variations in human development and family studies also are central foci of the program. The early childhood programs are jointly coordinated with the Department of Specialized Education Services. The HDFS Department administers an NAEYC accredited inclusive child care center that serves as a laboratory for teacher training and research.
