Description
The University of Zurich invites applications for a Professorship in Education in the Migration Society (Open Rank) starting on 1 February 2028.
Depending on the qualifications of the appointee, the professorship will take the form of a chair or a tenure-track assistant professorship. The professorship is based at the Institute of Education at the University of Zurich. Apart from conducting research in the field and contributing to the academic self-governance of the university, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and coordinating modules in the educational sciences programs.
Requirements
Applicants are expected to have an outstanding academic track record in teaching and research in the field of educational sciences. A research focus on non-formal education is an integral part of the position, with an emphasis on a social-pedagogical perspective. The appointee will be responsible for teaching and supervision at the BA, MA, and PhD levels within the educational sciences study programs, with a primary focus on the specialization «Social Pedagogy and Socialization». In addition, the appointee is expected to represent the field of educational sciences in its full breadth. We are looking for a scholar who brings outstanding and original research contributions to the field and who values collaboration in both research and teaching. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues within the Institute of Education, across the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and actively engage in national and international academic networks.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree at the time of application in educational sciences and have an excellent record of academic achievements in the relevant field. For appointment at the level of associate or full professor, candidates must hold a habilitation in educational sciences or demonstrate equivalent academic achievements. The University of Zurich’s administrative and teaching language is German. Non-German speaking candidates are expected to acquire a professional knowledge of German within the first three years of their appointment.
