Reporting to the Associate Director for Compliance and Processing, this position is responsible for a variety of student-related and managerial functions. This position is responsible for the administration and coordination of multiple department programs, including supervision of student employees, as well as counseling students and their families. In doing so, the incumbent exercises independent, professional judgment beyond proscribed policies and procedures to carry out the university's mission and policy to recruit and retain students at this university. The decisions made by the incumbent commit this office to a specific course of action, carry fiduciary responsibility and accountability for managing the financial aid program expenditures, and determine whether or not a student receives financial assistance to attend or continue attending the university. This position is part of a team that designs and implements unit policy. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Duties may require the incumbent to be on-site during public business hours: 8-5 Monday-Friday. Additional hours may be needed to accommodate fluctuating workload, office or university outreach, or for attendance at training, workshops and conferences.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree required. Five years of progressively responsible student service experience at a college or university that includes experience in student financial aid, student affairs, counseling, or related fields. The selected candidate must not be in default on Title IV loans and must provide academic transcripts.
Professional Competencies Ability to communicate effectively, and experience in and a commitment to quality customer service are required. Able to operate independently, using professional judgment and take initiative to anticipate problems and resolve issues in an accurate and timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree preferred. Experience in higher education and student financial aid.
