The Mosinee School District is located in central Wisconsin between Wausau and Stevens Point on the I-39 corridor. Mosinee is a 4K-12 District, with one elementary school, offsite 4k sites, one middle school and one high school. The District, in an active partnership with families and the community, prepares all students for academic achievement and lifetime success.
An applicant is preferred but not required to have knowledge in grant writing, leadership with legal issues, self assessment, ESSA, experience in budgeting, overseeing special education staff and support services.
Leadership Roles
The Director of Special Education/School Psychologist is responsible for providing instructional and organizational leadership to staff who teach special education students in multiple settings. The Director arranges for providing appropriate services for all special needs students in accordance with individualized education plans, with the goal of closing opportunity and achievement gaps between students with disabilities and their general education peers. The Director is responsible for the administrative leadership of the Special Services Department, oversight of staff, educational progress of identified students and participation in the District Leadership Team.
Key Skills
-Instructional leadership for special education services delivery, including analysis of data and development and implementation of data-based action plans
-Oversight of IEP process with particular focus on scheduling, procedures, compliance, and staff expectations including self assessment
-Oversight of transition services
-Monitor and review academic performance of special education students and improvement strategies
-IDEA, reporting, grant writing, and local budgeting
-District compliance with all federal and state special education laws
-Design and implement professional development opportunities for staff
Qualifications
The desired applicant will be a leader who embraces developing the best education for our students. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive oversight and supervision of the Special Education Department and Psychology Services including but not limited to assessment, consultation, collaboration, and interventions for students in grades K-12. Social Emotional Learning background and Multilevel Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is highly desired. Credit reimbursement and competitive benefits are offered. Candidates with a Director of Special Education license are preferred; however, we are willing to work with the selected candidate to obtain proper licensure.
-Licensure as a Director of Pupil Services/Special Education (5080) preferred.
-Licensure as a School Psychologist (7062) required.
