Job Duties:
The College of Community Engagement and Professions (CCEP) is seeking an energetic, visionary scholar to lead the UWM School of Education. As the school leader, the individual will build and support an inclusive and supportive environment for teaching, learning, scholarship, and service. They will coordinate the day-to-day functions of the oldest school at the university with four departments and multiple administrative offices.
The Head of School & Associate Dean will serve on the Dean's leadership team, bringing a strengths-based perspective and a deep understanding of the positive impacts of urban schools and communities. The SOE vision is to be a premier urban school of education recognized for its diversity, and known for excellence in teaching, learning, and research.
The Head of School will provide day-to-day administration of all operations of the School of Education. Major duties include:
- Guiding, supporting, and maintaining the academic program array within the SOE
- Supporting and building a culture of research and scholarship in the School and College
- Collaborating with school staff
- Representing the interests of the SOE with stakeholders and external bodies
- Initiating and developing partnerships across urban educational and community settings within the Milwaukee metropolitan area

Compensation:
$150,000-$180,000 annually; actual hiring salary to be determined based on experience
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to meet tenure rank of Full Professor
- A doctorate in an education related discipline
- Research and scholarship record meriting an appointment in one of the departments within the School of Education
- Demonstrated experience working in or with urban schools, with a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by students, families, and educators in urban educational settings
- Administrative experience of at least 3 years related to the responsibilities of this position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with urban PK-12 schools, including initiating and expanding partnerships
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing initiatives to advance educator preparation in urban, high poverty, and hard to staff schools.
- Experience with supervisory support and staff development
- Demonstrated success in advancing initiatives to support students the recruitment, retention, and success of students that represent an access population (e.g., Pell Eligible, First Generation).
- Experience with fiscal planning and budgeting
- Experience with state and/or national approval/accreditation processes
- Experience evaluating and implementing university and intergovernmental policies and procedures
- Leadership and engagement within educational systems and the broader community
