- Professor (W3) for effective teaching and learning in subject didactics (f/m/d)
Description
The Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences – Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology – at the University of Tübingen invites applications for the position of
Professor (W3) for effective teaching and learning in subject didactics (f/m/d)
to commence as soon as possible.
The professorship is intended to advance internationally visible research on teaching quality. Possible areas of research focus, which should follow the paradigm of use-inspired basic research, include the topics of cognitive activation, artificial intelligence and teaching quality, as well as teacher training and continuing education for teachers. In any case, the thematic focus of the professorship should be compatible with subject-didactic research on teaching quality.
The professorship is expected to complement the Tübingen profile of internationally visible, methodologically distinguished, and interdisciplinary empirical educational research through innovative scientific contributions on effective teaching and learning settings. Close networking with the members of the Hector Research Institute is expected, as well as an active contribution to creating a modern vision of research on education and its implementation in Tübingen. Close interdisciplinary collaboration with members of the WiSo Faculty, the LEAD Graduate School & Research Network, the Tübingen School of Education (TüSE), the Hector AI + Education Future Fund, the Tübingen Center for Digital Education (TüCeDE), and the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) is essential for this position. In addition, the establishment and maintenance of international partnerships are also explicitly desired.
The professorship will be involved in the following study programs: Training of students in teaching-degree programs (Lehramt), Bachelor and Master of Education Sciences and Psychology, Bachelor of Education and Social Work/Adult Education. In addition, the chosen candidate will be closely involved in the training and supervision of doctoral candidates. From 2028 onwards, a full TV-L E13 position (100%) will be directly assigned to the professorship.
Required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent degree as well as postdoctoral qualifications (psychology, education sciences) and teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship. An outstanding, internationally visible research profile is expected, as well as successful acquisition of third-party funding.
The University of Tübingen is committed to equity and diversity and actively promotes equal opportunities. Female academics, in particular, are explicitly invited to apply, as are applicants from outside Germany. Applications from equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference.
