Associate/Full Professor in Multidisciplinary Engineering and Computing Education, Systems and Management
Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor of Computing Education; Engineering Education; or Engineering and Computing Education. The Multidisciplinary Engineering and Computing Education, Systems and Management (ESM) Department is part of FIU's College of Engineering and Computing. The Department houses four degree programs: a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering, a Master of Science in Engineering Management, a Master of Science in Logistics Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Engineering and Computing Education. Our Ph.D. program is the first engineering education doctoral degree at a minority-serving institution (MSI) and the first computing education doctoral degree program in the US. The department’s values include working together in order to support the development of students across its programs. ESM also works to empower its community of stakeholders to advance the educational outcomes of both current and future ESM learners. As a team, the department promotes a positive and affirming environment for all.
Faculty in ESM work collaboratively with faculty in the STEM Transformation Institute (a community of Discipline Based Education Research [DBER] and STEM education faculty) as well as with other departments in the College (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) to conduct innovative funded education research in their discipline and advance the transformation of undergraduate and graduate engineering and computing education. FIU has a vibrant STEM education community, and there are also ample education research opportunities afforded in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Miami-Dade and Broward Counties are home to the nation's largest and 4th largest state colleges and two of the largest public school districts.
