- Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice, Center at Junction Executive Director
Description
Outreach and Engagement at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Assistant/Associate/Professor of Practice Executive Director position at the Center in Junction to begin January 1, 2026.
We seek candidates with administrative experience and teaching experience at the post-secondary level. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in an online format. In addition, the position includes administrative responsibilities to oversee the Outdoor Learning Lab, professional staff at Junction, the Junction Conference Center, and all activities related to facilitating and maintaining outreach and engagement partnerships, including K-12 partnerships and STEM activities and programs.
While appointed to this position, you will accrue vacation and will be required to report leave monthly following TTU’s Operating Policy 70.01 and TTU System Regulation 07.12. Since you will accrue vacation, you will follow a staff holiday schedule, which is available here:

Major/Essential Functions
At Texas Tech University, the Professor of Practice title is used to recruit individuals with exceptional backgrounds and achievements in academic, business, government, or other professional practice.
Primary responsibilities normally will be to teach in an area of expertise, mentor students in professional and career preparation, and liaise with professional contacts and entities on behalf of the department or program.
In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
In line with TTU’s strategic priorities that include transforming lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with a wide range of populations related to community engagement and student engagement in a variety of teaching domains.
Requirements
Faculty Qualifications
A Ph.D. in related fields such as education, science, biology, and STEM.
Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Administrative experience to oversee professional staff and faculty at TTU, Center at Junction.
Expertise in assessment and evaluation of outdoor learning environments,
Demonstrated experience in establishing partnerships related to community outreach and engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
Experience in implementation of professional development workshops and activities for K-12 teachers related to STEM.
Experience in outdoor learning environments.
Interest in applied research activities
