- Assistant Professor - Early Childhood Education
Description
The Early Childhood Education Assistant Professor within the School of Education and the College of Health and Human Sciences at Colorado State University is a 9-month, full time, non-tenure track faculty position. The position includes leadership of undergraduate and masters Early Childhood programs (birth – 8 years old), teaching early childhood education courses, advising undergraduate and masters level students, and building/maintaining school partnerships. This requires intentional collaboration with and among local school district partners to provide and promote the connection of pre-service and in-service teacher development. Opportunities to teach within our Educator Preparation programs with specific attention to our Early Childhood and Elementary Education programs will be paramount to the position. A successful applicant will bring innovative ideas to the preparation of future teachers, have a strong commitment to asset-based pedagogical approaches, be willing to serve in a broad variety of roles as needed, and be dedicated to the mission of the Department, including the growth of programs.
Required Job Qualifications
1. At least three years Birth—6th grade teaching and/or leadership experience
2. Doctoral (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) degree in early childhood education or related field. Degree must be conferred by start date.
3. Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or supervising university-level pre-service teachers
4. Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience teaching and/or leadership with Birth-8-year-old learners
2. Experience enacting humanizing and/or culturally sustaining pedagogical frameworks in Early Childhood settings
3. Experience coordinating within an educator preparation program
4. Evidence of successful collaboration with childcare, preschool, and/or elementary school teachers and administrators.
5. Experience in innovative instructional (re)design and/or curriculum development
6. Specific area of expertise (i.e. CLD, literacy, special education, mathematics) that would support the preparation of future teachers

Requirements
Teaching - 60%
1. Teach undergraduate and masters courses within the School of Education’s Early Childhood educator preparation program, based on both program needs and skills of the selected applicant
2. Teach additional courses in the School of Education’s Elementary Education educator preparation program as needed.
3. Teach the equivalency of 18 credit hours per academic year.
Advising - 10%
1. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Service - 25%
1. Serve as faculty coordinator for Early Childhood program, including leading programmatic curriculum revision; vertical alignment and collaboration across instructors/courses; and maintaining and expanding relationships with school partners.
2. Coordination, tracking, and supporting adjunct and site-based instructors in Early Childhood programs.
3. Serve on relevant committees to support the unit, school, college and university mission(s) including local and state-level related activities.
Research - 5%
1. Support Educator Preparation and the School of Education through relevant scholarship.
